Question:
i was thrust into a situation last night - in NYC w/ my other half and
we were at a trendy bar. i was fine for the first 15 minutes and then
really, really wanted a drink or a cigeratte. i decided the cigarette
was worse then the drink - so i had ONE gin and tonic. but my
question to you all is this - would wine have been better?
on another note, i am not really that hungry on day three - but, i
feel that when i see other people eating really great food i want
it!! i need to leave the room so i don't slip off this detox. those
of you who have been on the detox longer then me, does this change? i
am hoping the answer is yes.
Answer:
Yes it does. I've even gotten to the point where I really enjoy
smelling the food. I was at a BBQ last night and really enjoyed
smelling the hamburgers and hot dogs cooking. I even made brownies
and Pasta salad for the event. I was ok with all that and was happy
to sip my supplement. NOW don't get me wrong, I would loved to have
had a Hamburger, but was content because I know this is temporary and
I want to do something good for myself.
There is really no room for cheating because it undoes the whole
purpose of what you are trying to accomplish. Alcohol is toxic. It
is also a depressant. In order to get the detox accomplished you have
to stay away from all of it.
It does get MUCH easier. To the point, as Janice pointed out, that
you enjoy the smells of the foods around you without feeling like your
going to jump the person eating them to get some. When you make up
your mind that your going to 100% commit than you won't wonder about
cheating cause you'll start telling yourself the truth. The truth is
that if I eat, drink, or smoke that, it will eventually kill me.
I hope my post was not interpreted as a judgment. I only meant to
convey that I am concerned for your safety. I have noticed that as I
progress through the detox I am more and more sensitive to toxins that
I used to routinely encounter with no problem every day. I would hate
to imagine someone having a medical emergency as a result of trying to
do something good for their body. My understanding is that a medical
emergency is a real possibility if you drink alcohol less than 10 days
after the end of your detox, or during your detox. I only meant to
sugges that rather than risk that, you try an alternative--with
absolutely no judgments whatsoever--just care and concern.
