What is a good diet when cleansing your body ?
What makes you think your body needs cleansing?


Answer:
I hear a lot of ripping on 'cleansing'. I just wonder you never hear that from people who've been on 'cleansing' fasts. Go on a five day fast, allow two weeks to recover, with improvements in diet, exersize, etc., and then talk about how it's boloney. It isn't.

a toxin is anything that isn't supposed to be there and/or is detrimental. artificial ingredients often leave residues in your body which over time can negatively effect your health. also included are pesticide residues and some nutrients taken in excessively.

Maybe not, but you're confusing different things.
Certainly, some people do say that they do feel better after doing one of these cleansings. Fine.
However, this raises a new point: WHY do they feel better?
The usual claim is that it's because this "cleansing" removes "toxins" from the system. Well, it does in the sense that feces contain stuff that should be removed from the body, which is why you have a system to do that in the first place. However, since the body was going to do that anyway, it doesn't explain anything. So the "cleansing" proponents claim that *extra* "toxins" are being removed. However, when you ask them "what toxins, how much, and how do you know?" the answer is ineviably silence.
We must also ask: is the fact that they feel better valid? That is to say, they *feel* better, but by some object measure, are they healthier? Just because something feels good does not mean that it's good for you. I love chocolate cake, but I'm not going to sit here and argue that it's health food. Again, I haven't seen evidence that these "cleansings" are improving the health of the cleansed.

for me cleansing isn't just a one shot deal and then i go back to the regular diet. it's a diet in itself. it's basically an organic foods diet. from my own experience i've noticed that my asthma has gotten much better, i have a lot more energy (of course that might be due to the 30 lbs i dropped), my acne has cleared up, and have been in a generally annoyingly good mood (i say annoyingly because i used to hate people like me). all of these things might be coincidence too but i have noticed that when i indulge in dairy the asthma is bad for a week following and some chinese restaurants (msg) also irritate the lungs.
i think many of the "extra toxins" have been removed from my system, but not from a one shot cleansing. i tend to agree that the one shot methods might make you feel good for a short while and some of that might be in your mind, but i'm not sure how much better it is for you than jet's happy meal. i'm all for cleansing but if a cleansing diet isn't maintained what's the point?
