Question:
more than once I was given the advice to have a few days of rice-diet
for purification - rice, as it seems, has a positive effect on the
body, as it "washes out" unhealthy remains of food, smoking etc.
rice-diet seems to be a common way to regenerate the human body in
some parts of Asia.
however, I heard of different sorts of this diet, like: 3 days of
rice and water, no salt, no anything OR a rice-day once a week OR a
week of eating rice with salt, vegetables and fruits OR...
so: anyone experienced with this? anyone got detailled information or
links?
any help would be appreciated! thanks in advance!

I remember one idea of the ultimate macrobiotic diet was brown rice and bancha
tea, but this severely limited diet was not to be followed longer than ten days.
Fasting advocates claim purification, detoxification effects, which was disputed
or debunked in a recent thread in this newsgroup. But I never heard any claim
that a diet of rice alone was supposed to cleanse the body.
Most detox diets involve eating nothing but raw and preferably organic
fruits and veggies. And eating such a diet for a week will really "clean you
out." But I never heard of using brown rice. I don't see that it would have
anywhere near the cleansing effects as fruits and veggies.
