Question:
Has anyone tried a detox diet? I recently read about a 11 day program in
Experience magazine and am curious if anyone has tried one of these. The
premise is 7 days of prep eating (clean foods), 1 day of fasting drinking a
cranberry juice concoction, then 3 days of clean eating and herbs.
Considering this to jump start weight loss program which is stalled due to
an admittedly lousy diet.
Answer:
i've heard of this and i've known someone to try it. but they weren't
doing it for weight loss and i don't think that's the intention of the
detoxing. it's just to cleanse your body of toxins by eating organic,
raw foods for a few days (vegetables, fruits, and sometimes nuts and
sprouted grains)-- nothing more, nothing less. some people make this
raw food diet their WOE. i could never do that myself, but i probably
would if i could. i would not call it unhealthy if it's done correctly,
but one week of eating this way should not do much for your weight
loss. just eat healthily.
Dutch doctors (i.e. where I live) say there is no scientific evidence it
does anything good for you. In fact, when fat is being used up, it
releases stored toxins into the rest of your body, which isn't
necessisarily a good thing. And you can get depletion of various
nutrients. Any weight loss is usually regained fast.

with the new, updated Detox Diet) and the site has tons of helpful
