anyone that has made it to the other side
please post..any info about detox
from opiates.
Answer:
depression is part of the kick. but it does get better. i find the anger,
pent up rage, harder to deal with.
you might want to ask your doctor to prescribe an anti-depressant to get
you over the hump--the problem with these is they take a while to take
effect...and we are an immediate kind of people.
or have you thought about going on a methadone treatment program. depending
on where you live, you might be able to get on quickly. in toronto it can
take as little as 24 hours to get on. but meth is one of those things that
can take forever to get off.
but all i can tell you is the depression is part of the detox. think of
going off dope as losing a lover...you have to go through all the stages of
grief before its over, depression is just on of them
What is going on? Are you overdosing? Unless you are over doing the Norco
(more than 12 norco a day for a long time) there isn't anything that should
kill you other than overdose. It may be the strung feeling you get from a
long run.... sure feels like dieing, but it isn't. What kind of doses are
you taking and how long have you been taking them?
Anyway, if you want to get off the crazy train, by all means do it.
I wouldn't go that route. That is something that *can* kill you. You can
make it through a detox. We'd all like to skip the kick... but it isn't
gonna be that easy.
Celebrex? Were you still doing the Oxy/Hydro? Taking a NSAID isn't
detoxing slow.... that's full blown detox. Celebrex is worthless for
detoxing! You should see a doctor about a detox, if you are going to do one
at home. The doc can get you some clonidine, some benzos and maybe some
Restoril to sleep. A rapid detox isn't going to spare you the depression,
that is a post-detox issue you will have to deal with. You can look into
some of the SSRI drugs, after the detox and with the help of a good
psychiatrist/addictionologist. Detox is getting the dope out of the system
and the physical/mental reactions to the loss of the dope. Once you are
done with the detox, then you get to deal with the stages of sobriety. The
first 90 days after detox are hellish, but it can be done.
I've done it.... let's see.... at least ten times (for longish periods of
time, 6 months plus). I did it once for almost 10 years. If you can't do a
detox at home (which it doesn't sound like) you want to look into the local
inpatient detoxes. Start calling. You got insurance to cover it? Go to a
NA meeting, they are in the phone book. Someone can get you the info on
getting into an inpatient detox.
Detox is the easy part. You are way too busy hanging over the toilet to
think about much else. It's once you start to get around the corner
physically that you have to start fighting.
