Question:
I'm currently in treatment at a drug dep. centre in islington/camden
doing a subutex detox. However that does not really help me.
So, I'm looking for a doctor willing to prescribe opiates for
maintainance on a take home basis (as I am working I don't have the
time to go there everyday as I have to now..). The centre tells me
that they don't give out address lists of private prescribers anymore
as some of them were 'unresponsible' (actually that's the best
adjective to describe THEIR prescribing practise..).
I would prefer short-acting opiates, as I need to be awake during
work, but anything would be an improvement to the current situation..
What would I have to pay, say per week, for a script and how much do
the pharmacies charge?
My current alternative self-treatment consists of 4 packs
paramol(4x32x7.5mg dhc) a day, so not exactly cheap anyway..

im not a million miles away from you. I go to a private doc in fitzroy
sq for a methadone script picking up every 2 weeks- any good? you will
find it v v hard to get any thing else apart foem DHC if your
interested in the former drop me an email .
Not cheap and not good either! what a shitty drug DHC is. real weak..
ya may as well just stop!! Plus going from sub to a "proper" opioid is
a bit of a step back IMO.
Whenever i kicked, i was so committed to it i either did my rip cold
turkish or would choose DHC over Methadone everytime (before subbies
were an option) as i knew if i went on meth, i wouldnt get clean, i
would do as everyone else i knew would do.. and use on top. TBH, i
think you'll have to find a REAL quack to get a take home of anything
decent.
